Corrupted, Slow, and Interrupted Downloads
The two most frequent causes of problems downloading Orchid software are firewalls and download management software.
You may be experiencing a problem with a firewall or a download manager if you notice any of the following symptoms:
The download starts normally, but the download speed is much slower than your normal connection rate.
The download starts normally, but stops before the anticipated file size is downloaded.
When you open your download, you see an error message saying that the file is corrupted.
In order to eliminate these problems, you will need to disable or remove any firewalls (hardware or software) and download management software. Most download management software corrupts the download of Orchid software.
If you are computing in a campus or corporate environment, you may have to contact your system administrators to ask whether it is possible for you to download Orchid software in your computing environment. You will want to provide the following information to your system administrator:
You are downloading a file with a .exe extension.
You are downloading a file over HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol.)
The size of the file you are attempting to download (35MB)
Other Issues
Another common issue seen when downloading Orchid software is caused by not having enough space on your hard drive to accommodate the software and its installation. If you are downloading software through Internet Explorer, this space must be on the same hard drive as the Internet Explorer temporary directory.
